NEW YORK, NY (April 22, 2021) – Today David Miller of Il Divo, a groundbreaking classical crossover quartet, released the new retrospective series, Il Divo: The Artist’s Perspective, that follows the nine-month, behind-the-scenes journey of their 2012 Wicked Game World Tour from the perspective of Miller.

Il Divo: The Artist’s Perspective, filmed and produced by Miller, shows what happens during a world tour as the group members, Switzerland’s Urs Bühler, France’s Sébastien Izambard, Spain’s Carlos Marín, and U.S.’s David Miller, performed in 107 cities, 42 countries, six continents and 123 times to thousands of people each night. Using performance footage from each night, Miller highlights the 21 songs they performed in the series.

“People often asked me what it was like to be on tour,” says, Miller, CEO and founder of Bohémisphere, an independent music and film enterprise label in which the series was produced. “In 2012 I wanted to answer that question. I took my camera on tour and shot footage every day from the first rehearsal until closing night. I captured the reality of what our day-to-day lives were like from the fantastic highs of feeling the crowd cheering in a standing ovation to the utter exhaustion from jetlag the next day. Every episode of the series captures a different adventure and new experience.”

At the end of the 2012 tour, Il Divo’s tour schedule continued to be relentless, and he didn’t have time to complete the series and release it to the public, says Miller.

“During this last year of self-quarantining, I rediscovered the hard drive that contained the footage of the tour and completed the series,” says Miller. “I felt it was important to release it to the world now, in this last phase of the COVID era of isolation, to lift people’s spirits. Those who attended this tour will take a trip down memory lane, and those who did not will experience something new. And everyone will get to experience a tour from a different perspective ... from my perspective.”

A new episode of the series will be released every Thursday at 9 a.m. EDT on divodavid.com/tap until the series is complete. Miller’s fan-club members receive exclusive access to episodes before the general public. People can become members by subscribing to receive emails at divodavid.com.

About David Miller
Exposed to opera from the age of six, Miller found his love for singing fairly early in life. His dedication to the art form was formidable, but he also had opportunities that allowed him to fully pursue his passion without distraction. He was accepted to one of the top music conservatories in the world and invited to apprentice at one of the top-level opera companies in the U.S. He sang leading roles in opera houses worldwide, which eventually led him to be cast and star in Baz Luhrman’s La Bohème on Broadway. That intense experience changed Miller’s life forever. It showed him the potential to create a new degree of accessibility for opera through directing it like a film. This planted a seed of possibility in his consciousness, and he began to see opera as a genre in a new way.

After La Bohème, he was selected by record executive Simon Cowell for Il Divo. Currently, Il Divo is in its sixteenth year after selling more than 30 million albums and has a large fan base of more than 60 countries worldwide. They pioneered the genre called Classical Crossover and created a worldwide audience of what Miller has dubbed the “classically curious”. Through this lengthy departure from opera, Miller has learned that there is a worldwide hunger for more classical art forms.
